API Evangelist reads Redpoint Ventures’s portfolio the way a machine reads it — not the pitch deck, the evidence. Redpoint’s public company list resolves into the catalog, and 67 of those companies ship a public API could be pulled, parsed, and scored on the same rubric applied to Stripe. This report is about those 67, because the interface is the part of a company an integrator, an acquirer, or an agent can actually inspect — and a fund’s book of APIs is a truer signal of the fund’s bet than its thesis page.
The headline is two facts that ought to argue with each other. Redpoint’s API book scores near the top of the pack on the average — a mean composite Kin Score of 48.6, second only to Bessemer among every fund measured — and it has the lowest agent-native rate of any of them: just 16 of 67 providers, 24%. And even that number is generous. Strip out the derived, candidate MCP manifests — the generated files that say, in their own headers, that no official server was found — and exactly two companies in the whole portfolio ship a genuine hosted agent surface: Stripe and Twilio.
